In India, Tintin discovers the true extent of the criminal organization. He learns that the "Cigars of the Pharaoh" are used to smuggle opium and diamonds, hidden inside hollow cigars. The organization is led by a shadowy figure controlling a vast network of thugs and corrupt officials.
