The Silver Key Clip — The key-shaped clip was heavier than it looked. It fit no lock in her apartment, yet when she touched it she remembered an attic door with a rusted latch in her grandmother’s house. That attic had been full of trunks and postcards and a single letter addressed to “Dear Finder.” Lacie slid the clip into the lock of her own desk drawer and, with a small click, the drawer opened with ease. Inside: a yellowed map of the city, with a single red X near the river.
