However, the true standout is the motion-capture performance by Caleb Landry Jones as Jeff. Bringing a CGI robot to life is no small feat, but Jones imbues Jeff with a sense of childlike wonder and awkwardness that makes him instantly endearing. The dynamic between the grumpy, protective Finch and the inquisitive, rapidly learning Jeff provides the film’s emotional core.
