Very little is known about the person (or persona) of Exotica Soto. According to the scant liner notes of her only known LP, "Ritual of the Midnight Orchid" (allegedly pressed in 1962 by the obscure Waikiki-based label "Tradewinds Records"), Soto was neither Hawaiian nor Polynesian. She was, as the legend goes, a reclusive Brazilian ex-pat who lived in a cliffside house overlooking Diamond Head. exotica soto
